Time - the witness

10/5/2015

I am Sifu Mark Ryan, first student of Sifu John Hartley,Tai Chi Brother to Sifu Roman Czerniawsky.I also taught through my own school, the Blue Mountains School Of Tai Chi quite some time ago.I now teach occasionally, one student at a time.

Before learning Tai Chi, I was John’s student where the main focus was on the ‘hard’ styles,e.g. Lama, Wing Chun etc. One day John said to me that the ‘hard’ styles were good, though, perhaps Tai Chi might serve me better later in life. Of course, he was right,as now, I am ‘later in life’. That is what I mean by saying time is the witness to my Tai Chi, and how it has been beneficial to my health.

Good to read your story Mark,
Thanks for sharing.

Have a poem to share -

Cultivating energy

The stillness in the early morn,
Just before the break of dawn.
Only a ripple through the leaves
energy around…
Finding the stillness inside me -
It is in that stillness
That the pearls start to drop..
Gentle movement begins
Only a glimpse, before the mind
unleashes yet another assault.
My noisy head interrupts the flow
Like the battering you feel on a windy day -
Gently caress, encourage the return
of stillness…
so much unravelling
so many beautiful moments
a lifetime of learning ahead
continue gently, patiently.
Energy all around.
